Man arrested after assaulting mother of his child @ bus stop in STT

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- Shortly after 6:00 am on Monday, march 10, 2020, Jose A. Garcia, Jr, 28, of Hospital Ground, St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI), was arrested and charged with simple assault, domestic violence after assaulting a woman at a bus stop, according to the [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).

VIPD Public Information Officer Toby Derima said the victim told detectives she was assaulted by Garcia, who is her daughter’s father, at the bus stop at Nisky Center.

The victim said Garcia struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing injuries. The victim was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Hospital via ambulance for her injuries.

No bail was offered to Garcia as per local domestic violence statutes, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
