Man allegedly caught with cannabis for July 25 trial!

Benti will stand trial on July 25, 2012.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Kasim Benti, who allegedly had over 100 grammes of cannabis with the intention of supplying it to another, is expected to stand trial on July 25, 2012 in the Magistrate’s Court.

The Crown is expected to call one witness.

Benti has pleaded not guilty to being in possession of the illegal substance when he appeared before Magistrate Tamia Richards on May 11, 2012.

However, on May 29, 2012 the defendant, who will be representing himself, looked perplexed since he was expecting the case to be dropped.

According to court records, Benti was caught by police on May 5, 2012 when he was in the Major Bay area. Some 103.4 grammes of the illegal substance were confiscated by officers. The street value is $1,034.

The Long Bay resident is on $30,000 bail.
