ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Pizzas were selling like hot cakes as the Village Cay Marina and Hotel opened its very own Pizzeria yesterday, July 11, 2013 during a brief launch ceremony.

Marketing and PR Manager for the Sage Group of Companies, Chaunci Cline said, yesterday’s event signalled the introduction to a new feature on the Village Cay menu – pizza! “We want to diversify the menu, so what a great way to have a great addition in terms of pizza on the menu,” she said.

She disclosed that there were margherita pizzas as well as vegetarian and jerk pizzas as part of the variety of specialty pizzas on offer. There were also samplings and discounts for carry out pizza.

Two patrons, Abigail Roper and Sydney Kasembe, were among those who sampled the tasty treats and were blown away by the flavour, “The pepperoni pizza… it is awesome,” said Abigail, “I would like for it to have pineapple toppings as well because I love pineapple on my pizza and cheese.”

Describing herself as a ‘pizza person’, Abigail said for Village Cay to have pizza such as the ones that she enjoyed meant that she would be coming there more often than she normally does. “I’m always on the go for a pizza so it’s really good that they have the pizza here and the pizza is awesome so I would recommend it to anybody,” Abigail gushed.

NBA player Michael James was on hand for the launch, along with coach Chris Johnson, and he (James) spoke briefly about his latest visit to the Virgin Islands. “It’s a great experience… I think the BVI is one of the more beautiful islands. I’m just appreciative of how they appreciate me and what I’ve done. It’s always great to be able to go somewhere else and build that love but also be able to give that love back out.”

Meanwhile, Village Cay Manager Nerval Roberts said the crowd was very supportive and he was hopeful that the company could move from strength to strength as they launched their latest initiative. “With Village Cay, we’re always innovative so you can always look for new things coming out,” he said.

This is so original....... Typical us in VI to do what others are doing to show them we can do it better than them. To each his own. When are we going to become original and truly innovative?????
