ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Rotary Club of Tortola recently handed over a cheque in the amount of $5,000.00 to MAKOS Swim Club, a community volunteer organisation offering opportunities for those interested in competitive swimming and representing the Virgin Islands locally and abroad.

The funds were raised via the Club’s signature fundraiser the ‘Grand Affair’ which was held in March of this year on Scrub Island Resort.

The Rotary Club of Tortola extends gratitude to all who made a contribution to the 2012 Grand Affair whether via donations, sponsorship, through volunteerism or attending the event.

Rotary has had a presence in the Virgin Islands for over 40 years. The work of Rotary is carried out by three (3) Rotary Clubs, one (1) Rotaract, one (1) Interact and two (2) Early Act clubs. Our community is well served by these Clubs who have introduced and executed new and innovative community service projects and fundraisers over the years. Indeed many lives in the Virgin Islands have been touched by Rotary in some way.

The Rotary Club of Tortola is continuing its commitment to the development and empowerment of the people of these Virgin Islands.
