PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- A major fire erupted at a storage site for a recycling facility at Paraquita Bay, Tortola, tonight, February 24, 2021.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the area where the fire started was being used to store bales of recyclable plastic by Green VI.

The bales have been destroyed.

Fire and Rescue Services were hard at work trying to control the blaze.

No injuries or damage to other properties were reported at the time of publication.

The fire; however, heavily polluted the atmosphere with soot and the smell of burning plastic.
