Major clean up planned for the Fifth District
Since its inception the Committee to Bring District 5 ALIVE has held successful community events; and is planning a massive cleanup exercise aimed at adding new sparkle to the District.
The grand cleanup exercise is scheduled for July 28, 2018, at 6:00 AM, in all areas in the Fifth District and is being held in conjunction with the Dream Big group.
President of the Dream Big Group, Stephon D. Mactavious in a press statement on July 24, 2018 said that he is pleased to be partnering with the committee.
“I am happy to be part of any undertaking that seeks to improve the various communities in the District...As a young person I feel great to be part of a group of like-minded persons who are excited to improve where we live,” he said.
This is not just an excellent opportunity to clean up our District but will foster relationships and build camaraderie.
“We are proud to live here; we will focus our whole-hearted efforts on this cleanup campaign...Most importantly, we are in the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season...Therefore, it is important that other communities throughout the territory become motivated to do the same as well...We are very grateful to all the companies that have agreed to help us with our cleanup drive.
Bulky Waste
Persons with bulky waste should utilize the bins that will be strategically placed throughout the district.
Bin Locations: Long Trench, bottom of Great Mountain, Botanic Station, Horse Path, The Watch House & Johnson Ghut.
The Bring District 5 ALIVE committee has a number of other initiatives planned to spruce up and revitalize the District and said that the success of each program is a step towards a better-looking District.
The upcoming event is also being promoted as an excellent opportunity for students seeking to earn their community service hours this summer to do so via the cleanup effort.
The organizers are also inviting all residents of the District to do their part to restore community pride within the Fifth District.
