Potter added that one of the things they are going to do as an Association is that the Executives will go on a retreat in the next two months to set a strategic plan for the next two years going forward.

Regarding some of the key challenges and impediments to businesses in the territory, he said that access to finance and Government red tape are among the most concerning to businesses.

The Chairman also said that a third serious challenge is the competition that internet shopping is presenting to local businesses. “A lot of people are doing business on the internet instead of buying locally,” he said.

Commenting on the composition of the team, Mr Potter said it includes some old members and new and is confident in the capabilities of all of them.

And we the consumers want basic protection. We are tired of genuinely having to return an item and the businesses telling us, take something. I returned a suitcase and you telling me to take a B&B - brief and blanket to make up the credit. It is a suitcase I wanted. I want my money back to go to another store for the suitcase. It's time this thing stop.

I have no faith that mr potter will do anything for the greater good other than find ways to line people's pockets. Profit is one thing but sustainable business practices are needed to move forward WITHOUT losing the very character which brings people here. Mr. Potter had no sense of community or preservation when he was head of Town and Country. He approved projects that were problematic. And when asked about saving Main St in this capacity, he said, "well, we can always take pictures". He will be equally tone-deaf when it comes to sustainable businesses which bless everyone, not just a member of his association.
