ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Huntums Ghut resident, Lloyd Graham, complained of being unable to meet his financial obligations and afford the representation of an attorney when he was brought before the Magistrate’s Court on February 14, 2014.

Graham, 29, was charged with possession of a controlled drug after Police reportedly found him with 8.1g of cannabis in Road Town on September 24, 2013.

The defendant, who pleaded guilty to the offence, told the court that he was contracted by government to work at a school but was yet to be paid for his services after some time.

He said this made him unable to pay his utility bills and left him behind in rent payments and caused him not to be able to afford a lawyer as well.

Graham, who remained on bail, was told to return to court on March 7, 2014 for sentencing in the matter.
