MEYERS, Tortola, VI – Students of Enis Adams Primary were given quite a surprise today, September 6, 2013 when representatives of LIME (BVI) turned up with a delightful and spontaneous ice-cream treat in tow.

Staff of LIME (BVI) presented the bubbly students of the school with ice-cream cones courtesy of La Dolce Vita as part of an annual collaboration between the school and the telecommunications company.

General Manager of LIME (BVI) Sean Auguste said, “We’ve adopted the school so every year we try to do something to support the school.”

Auguste, who said LIME was like a big brother to the school, added that support for the school didn’t only come in the form of spontaneous exercises such as today’s ‘Back to School Bliss’ exercise, but also in the form of Information Technology donations, through contributions at graduation time and also on the basis of requests made by the school.

Though he initially harboured concerns about how the inclement weather might affect the children’s desire for the ice-cream, he was thrilled to see that they were enjoying their cones.

Acting Principal of Enis Adams Primary, Ms Carren Mactavious expressed appreciation for the gesture and said, “It’s a wonderful exercise at the beginning of the term for the students to be given some reward from LIME as one of our sponsors.”

Meanwhile, Auguste stated that the exercise was part of the organisations continued efforts at community engagement, “We made a commitment to the school that we would be there for them and we would be there for the kids and every year we try to do something different and something enjoyable and something fun and this time the surprise was to bring them out for ice-cream.”

LIME, Auguste added, has made a commitment to education in the Virgin Islands and is also exploring the option of expanding its programme by including other schools in giving back to the community. “We want to help and support the growth of education, sports, well being and health,” he expressed, “those are the pillars that we want to be a part of as often as we can.”

He said all of the children held the potential to become general managers and government ministers of the future and LIME wanted to be a part of their lives and assist with moulding their future.

This should not be allowed. The government should be implementing healthy eating lifestyles for children. Let parents treat their children at home. This is why obesity is becoming such an issue in our world today. If you teach children how to eat healthy when they are young they would continue with that lifestyle when they get older.
