ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Early September when workers of the Service Support and Delivery (SSD) Department of LIME BVI received word that they were going to be laid off, they were given the impression that by this month December 2013, they would have no longer been employed by LIME.

However, speaking with Virgin Islands News Online on December 12, 2013, some of the SSD LIME workers said the last word from management was that Ericsson has not yet received their trade license from Government.

"It seems like we can have a comfortable Christmas and deal with this pending transition come 2014. The last word we got was that Ericsson hasn't gotten their license yet and I am hoping that pushes us past Christmas and the new year. Let the new year break us in a job," said one employee.

Another alleged that since they had taken their concerns to the media and other levels, management has not been very good to them and he is not going to have high hopes for a safe Christmas. "How these guys operating we can walk in there tomorrow and be slapped with a letter saying that we are no longer employed," the cautious employee said.

The aggrieved workers likely to be laid off by LIME BVI have expressed concerns over their severance pay package which they described as being meager. They said they are still working in a tense environment since they allegedly have not been told how much longer they have with the company and that management has allegedly not given them any assurance that they would be rehired by the company identified to manage its technical operations.

Initially they were reportedly told that the likely time for the layoff would have been December 2013 by which time it was anticipated that the entire SSD Department of LIME BVI would have been outsourced to a company by the name of Ericsson.

General Manager of LIME BVI, Mr Sean Auguste, when contacted by this news site, said he had no comments to offer.
