ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - On Tuesday March 18, 2014 LIME announced a new partnership with the BVI Athletic Association and the launch of an incentive to any Carifta 2014 Gold Medal winners from team BVI.

Athletes hoping to make the final cut for Team BVI at the 2014 Carifta Games will have the chance to qualify at the 2014 LIME National Junior Track and Field Championships this evening (Friday March 21st) and Saturday (March 22, 2014) on the A.O. Shirley Ground, ahead of the Carifta Games which will be held in Martinique in April 2014.

As an added incentive to qualify and to win Carifta gold medals, LIME General Manager Sean Auguste announced that each gold medalist will receive a matching LIME Gold iPhone 5s.

“We are going for Carifta gold and in addition to any Carifta gold medalist, I will add to that a matching gold iPhone 5s with the numbers 541, 542, 545,546 or 547- G-O-L-D”, he said at a press conference held to announce the partnership between LIME and the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA).

The General Manager continued to say that TEAM BVI will need the entire community to rally around the Carifta team once selected.

“Team BVI cannot get there alone. Team BVI needs everyone in the BVI to rally around this upcoming team. Team BVI needs a strong team behind it. Team BVI has a strong team behind it. From today Team BVI has LIME behind it,” said Auguste.

Both announcements will solidify planning and training goals for BVIAA who will also partner with LIME to present the LIME National Championships and to host the Leeward Islands Track and Field Championship later this year.

The LIME National Junior Championships, for which LIME is supplying the Medals, will also welcome athletes from neighbouring islands who are using the event to also qualify for Carifta places.

Mr. Auguste welcomed that announcement and noted that LIME’s participation in these types of events represented LIME’s understanding of what corporate responsibility should look like.

“LIME is quickly becoming the face of what corporate responsibility should look like in the Virgin Islands. Companies like ours should be giving a portion of what we make to the people that make us who we are,” he said.
