ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Customers of LIME were without broadband internet service for hours this morning, September 25, 2013 as the service reportedly suffered a temporary disruption in the Virgin Islands and some parts of the Caribbean.

Virgin Islands News Online was one of the many entities affected severely this morning since it was unable to update its website due to both LIME and CCT's internet being disrupted.

I wonder if the GM himself rectified the problem or was it those same technicians he deems redundant had to oil his company today....

You seem to have a bad work attitude. They are still on the payroll clock and should never consider sabotaging the company they work for. I wonder if this new company's management is reading all of what has been posted by persons that are up for potential re-hire.

These LIME staff have already indicated to the public that though they are getting more than what the law requires them to get, they want more. This is GREED!!! The BVI Government cannot do a thing for you as LIME is working within the parameters of the law. As a result of your situation, then the law needs to change!!! Rally for Government to increase the severance days to 5 weeks for each year worked for ALL the people of the country and not just yourselves. Rally for a change in the labour code to take effect either immediately or within a reasonable time frame...by 1 January 2014. I hope you get through on this for it is them big shot lawyers that are in this country you will be up against. They are the ones who advise Government. Either that or we as a united people start considering unions.

You want us the people to back you. But what about those that got the 9 days in the past or got nothing at all!!

Also of note, it is NOT the GM's company. He is a worker like you and he got to do what he is told to do. His job is NOT indispensable!!! No man's job is indispensable!! Maybe he next to go for how this whole saga has been handled...you never know.

Focus on addressing the matter in the RIGHT way and stop blaming the Government. The law of the land set up by the people of the and prevails. Where were you when the code was drafted and sent to the public for comments?

        1. I am not an employee of LIME but as a citizen, a human, you should be concerned about what happens one to another. Today for me and tomorrow for you. That is not a bad work attitude.

        2. I do not believe nor should you imply via spreading of propaganda that the disruption of service today was a sabotage.

        3. Because employees before received 9 days or less does not mean you should lay down and take what ever people hand to you. It will always take but 1 to stand against a policy and then people to band together. You will never understand this concept until you are the one facing lay off without surety of a future hire and where your next pay check will come from. The severance is what you may have to live on for a while.

        4. I hope someone fights for you when you need it.

No one said you were an employee of LIME

I agree that as a human, one should be concerned about what happens to another and that today for me, tomorrow for you.

Read what was written again: "...should never CONSIDER sabotaging...". Seems like you know more. Be careful.

RALLY for Government to increase the severance days to 5 weeks for each year worked for ALL, ALL, ALL, ALL the people of the country and not just yourselves.

RALLY for a change in the labour code to take effect either immediately or within a reasonable time frame...by 1 January 2014.

Noel Lloyd and PAM did a march when it came to the leasing out of the Wickham's Cay land, that's why it was recommended that the matter be addressed in the RIGHT way!!! The FUTURE is what matters now!!!

DO NOT have a SELFISH attitude. The matter affects ALL in the Territory. Address it with diplomacy!!!
