GREENLAND, Tortola, VI – As the FLOW Superfast LTE T20 Cricket Tournament concluded the regular season games on Sunday April 2, 2017, Vincy CC yet again ensured an 11th hour reprieve to their Premier League status with an 8 run victory over Grenada at Greenland Recreation Ground.

In 2016, the Vincy did just enough to avoid the dreaded drop to Division One, when despite losing to the Cavaliers, they managed to finish ahead of the Vikings, on Net Run Rate. In 2017, they went one better and defeated Grenada CC by 8 runs, to avoid relegation and send their opponents down.

Steve Liburd and Ferris Pope were the architects of the victory as they compiled a 179-run partnership for the second wicket to ensure the Vincy posted a very defendable 229-8 from their 20 overs.

Pope fell first for 84 (12 fours and 5 sixes), whilst Man of the Match, Liburd reached 101 (13 fours and 6 sixes) and the fact that no other batsman reached double figures shows the importance of their staying at the crease.

Trent Belfon ripped through the rest of the batting and finished with 6- 26.

In reply, Grenada got off to the worse possible start as Neil Niles (3-66) and Earl Prescott (2-40) quickly reduced them to 80 -5.

Staring both defeat and relegation in the face, Derol Redhead showed tremendous guts and determination, battling his way to an undefeated 96 (5 fours and 11 sixes), but even his herculean efforts, in partnership with Jamal Innis (40), fell just short as the chase ended on 222-6, 8 runs short of victory.

This coming Sunday, April 9, 2017 the Cavaliers will face RTW in the first qualifier at 2:30 PM. The winner will go straight into the final, whilst the loser will await the winner of the game between Vincy and Royal Knights, scheduled for April 16, also at 2:30 PM.

Guess what? All the people playing and going to the games paying taxes, SS, rent and every other expense to live on this island. I am sure they paying rent to you too...are you even paying your taxes?
Let the people enjoy themselves- only one life to live - stop the hating man!
BTW- Sponsorship and the kindness of some people enable the games to play.

I think Grenada was wrongfully kept from the semi finals because of favoritism! Someone need to check the stats and run rates properly and not just one person to determine which team qualifies by the rules and not just by one man word of mouth!. I personally think that Ragga should not be on the mike commentating while the game is being played . He is always talking down the players on the field during the games and embarrassing them. That is not good . Players should not be hearing his discriminations while focus on their game on the filed. This does make players loose focus on the game while on the field. These issues needs to be address!

The stats are always available for quries. The formula to calculate run rate is just a Google away. Please stop making accusations, if u have a prob plz feel free to do ur own cslculations. I do however agree with you about commentating while the game going on its a distraction to batsmen and someone for dowlers as well. The bvica should look into this

The two teams know that a win was the only way to guarantee that they would stay in...so play to win like Vincy did. Grenada dropped so many catches (including the centurion) and their keeper gave away a set of runs with wides and byes that went for boundaries that he should have stopped. So why make noise now. Play to win is the only way to know that you are going though. Simple enough to me.

Flow needs to sponsor local sports

FLOW is not a Tortolian Company. But since you like to run your mouth why don't you ask CCT to sponsor them?

Sponsoring is about mileage. Flow is getting that. If you want easy money go RTW that doesn't care about nothing.

The standard is dropping. Years ago it was more passionate, more serious, more fun, more people.. It's not the same.

I agree with you on that. FLOW used to be there promoting things, the place was more lively. The atmosphere was way better. The grounds is being ignored too, no one really maintains it...sad.
