CAPOON’S BAY, Tortola, VI – Several former students of the Leonora Delville Primary school pooled their resources together to purchase a cooler for the teachers and students of the school yesterday, January 25, 2013.

The donation was a combined effort made by SA Architect, Kelly’s Tire Shop and Tattoo’s Trucking. The three persons heading the companies, Alvin Hodge, Kelly Romney and Steve Augustine are all alumni of the school.

Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online, Mr Steve Augustine said, “Based on the fact that we didn’t do the school drive this year, I took it to the same guys that I normally collaborate with… and I brought it to their attention. They jumped on the bandwagon right away as far as providing the necessary funds to purchase the cooler and we’re happy that we’re here and we’re able to make this donation to Leonora Delville Primary School…”

Accepting the donation on behalf of the school was Principal of the Leonora Delville Primary School, Mrs Pearlette Frazer-Smith, who disclosed that she was excited about the donation, “we are excited because former students of the school have donated a cooler to the school, they have given back to the community. So we’re very grateful that this happened.”

She further noted that it was a timely donation for the school and mentioned that it was a good addition to the coolers that the school already possessed.

Under the umbrella of Temple Racing, Mr Augustine said a number of stationery had been donated in the past including hundreds of textbooks, pencil sharpeners, erasers, rulers and compasses among other things but the drive had not been undertaken this year.

He expressed that sometime recently he had been doing some work at the school and it was brought to his attention that the school would like to look at the possibility of getting a new cooler.

Mr Augustine added, “we feel good to know that we went to school here, we all have businesses, we’re all from West End and here we are continuing our tradition as far as donating back to the younger generation.”
