ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – First District Representative Hon. Andrew A. Fahie has chided Government for putting the Territory in an irrevocable position given their treatment of the Protocols for Effective Financial Management signed in April, 2012.

“The life of this Territory with how business is being done, changed when the Protocols were signed, it behoves us all to become acquainted with what it says,” the Opposition Member said at a press conference on July 30, 2013 at the offices of the House of Assembly.

He added that once this is done it would be realised that the very government that signed [the Protocols] is ignoring the rules for the most part.

“I don’t know how much they study how the British operate,” Hon. Fahie stated, “but if they have not, they need to study it and they would understand that ‘don’t mistake the absence of noise in the forest for the lack of activities’.”

Conflicts of interest

Asked whether he would consider the recently proposed merger of the Water and Sewerage Department with the BVI Electricity corporation, Hon. Fahie responded that he felt there were concerns given the many conflict of interest situations that recently arose.

“I have to be concerned if this is being done for the right reasons,” he stated, “If they could prove that they are doing it for the right reasons then I could start to consider it.”

He suggested that with the unfair operations of some of the legislators in the House of Assembly, this would leave them “in a better economic standing than all their other counterparts in the House of Assembly and the public.”

He said this was likely the reason that that most of the government members could not understand the cries out in the community. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. All the evidence has lead me to say that there is a set of full belly telling a set of empty belly to keep faith,” Hon. Fahie said.

Fahie needs to go sit down. Who did more mis-dealings than them when they were in power? The reason the protocols had to be signed is because of the mis-management of the public funds by them. Pure nonsense they did and now he ere talking piss about NDP mis-dealings. He lucky he aint in jail yet...

Pure NDP propaganda you talking again. We had enough of your non factual & worthless words. Here we have proof of the only true mis-management by these NDP corrupt characters. Also talk facts, all the UK overseas Territories had to sign the protocols so the NDP need to stop fooling the people telling them it was because of VIP. Stop talking piddle.

Fool you are!! You are so blinded by the corruption of your collegues in VIP that you cannot see wrong. That protocol document was sent to the then Premier, now leader of the opposition to be signed months before the election. Why the HELL did they not sign it? Since you know so much, go ask them how long they had this document? They can fool people like you but not me and others. They did not know how to negotiate what was in the protocols. You think what is in this protocol document now is strict? You should have a look at the original one that was sent to the then Premier. The present Premier had the know how to have certain things excluded. If he did not we would have been to the mercy of the UK government. Do your home work man..I did mine

Ronnie start an eternity hospital construction project that seemingly was intentionally under priced now costing us double & this was from 2007 during NDP's time in office. Nearly $200 million dollars later we ain't catch ourselves financially as yet so back up off of Fahie & VIP.
        • HELLO!! (14/08/2013, 15:15) Like (2) Dislike (1) Reply
I have to tune in here. For your infor, that hospital could have been done with the money that was allocated by Ronnie. But NO!! Frazer and Dancia had to go change, this and change that and fire construction team, What you had expect to happen? The price must excelate. I agree, VIP is to blame for the hospital not being built. If they wanted to prove themselves, they should have finished it when they were in the last four years..they should have NEVER allowed NDP to come back and finishe it. They think they too wise you see.

Hell NO! Ronnie has a lot to answer for with the seemingly corrupted way he organised this project. You guys think he is some kind of saint but his track record strongly suggests differently. Time will tell.

You still with these campaign propaganda? We now have the facts: The NDP told us VIP emptied the Reserves, we now find out that they lied. The NDP told us the VIP left the country broke, we now find out that they lied after learning about the many over priced consultants, airport & port multimillion dollar projects, over priced one night dinner & speechwriter; 10yr old millions in payment to cronies for airport; over priced manse road, Craft Alive project, Georgie Hill, & many more projects by the NDP.

The one most unforgivable act that has damaged this country financially is the NDP's Santo eternity corrupt hospital construction project which sucked & is sucking the Treasury dry but ayo want us to leave that alone & forget it while you try to blame others for the nonsense Ronnie & the NDP has done. Millions & millions & millions & more gone through the hospital door thanks to the can't do no wrong NDP.

The NDP is the political party of choice & majority but it is obvious to most of us now that they got the office through lies and malicious behavior and now it is coming back to haunt them which I don't mind but we the people suffering also which is where I have a problem. THE NDP MUST GO NOW!

@HELLO, now what he hell did Fraser have to do with the hospital project? You see now why people like you are never taken seriously. Everyone knows that Fraser's ministry did not deal with the hospital, but you and your ignorance, not knowing $hip, trying to look and sound intelegent by calling Fraser's name to score points. Typical NDP blogger somewhere in Atlanta

As Fahie says "wrong cannot be right base on who you love & right cannot be wrong base on who you hate." These actions by the NDP is wrong.

Can you understand your own cry? The government of the day cannot fix everything. Some of us need to pray and ask God to help us through this situation. The government is not God. They can only do so much.

Don't come trying to let the NDP off the hook. They campaign knowing what they were getting into & promised many things. Now they realise that we now know they were just saying good things to get in because they ain't fulfilling any promise they made during the campaign. They got in on lies & we will not forget them in 2015. This is the worse it has ever been in the BVI.

Hear you! No government was worst than the VIP government. Open your blind eyes and look around. They did NOTHING for us for the four year they were in, NOTHING!! The NDP work speaks for itself. I dont need to blog anything to get them off the hook. However, you VIP blogers have your work cut out for. you. Wish you luck but only a few will believe and they are not enough to vote out the NDP government.
