Late Chief Minister Willard Wheatley to be recognised

The Willard Wheatley Centennial Celebration Committee (WWCCC) would like to invite the general public to a memorial service on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:30 pm to honour the memory of the territory’s first Minister of Finance and second Chief Minister, the late Dr Willard Wheatley, MBE, at the Willard Wheatley Primary School grounds on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary on July 16, 2015. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Willard Wheatley Centennial Celebration Committee (WWCCC) would like to invite the general public to a memorial service on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:30 pm to honour the memory of the territory’s first Minister of Finance and second Chief Minister, the late Dr Willard Wheatley, MBE, at the Willard Wheatley Primary School grounds on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary on July 16, 2015.

The service will pay tribute to the contribution of Dr Wheatley to the advancement of the [British] Virgin Islands.

The committee would also like to advise the general public that ahead of the memorial service, JTV will air a special edition of Spotlight on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 8:00 pm on the political leadership of the late Chief Minister in the economic recovery of the territory in the 1970s; and ZBVI’s 3D show will further highlight his achievements in a call-in programme on Friday July 17, 2015 at 8:00 pm.

The Rotary Club of Tortola will also highlight the service of Dr Willard Wheatley to the VI community at its upcoming meeting on July 16, 2015 from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm at the Moorings Mariner Inn.
