ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As twilight settled over the Virgin Islands on Sunday November 6, 2011, the Territory’s main opposition, the National Democratic Party (NDP) motorcade was still going strong, a fitting climax to an aggressive campaign to get back into power.

Scores of vehicles in various shapes and sizes moved throughout Tortola’s roadways, horns blaring and the 12 candidates’ campaign songs blasting from speakers.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) was formed in 1999, and defeated the incumbent government in 2003. However, four years later the party suffered a heavy loss – 11 to 2 – in the 2007 election.

But for this general elections, the party has injected some new blood and now calls itself the “new NDP team”.

And as voters go to the polls today, November 7, they can chose 12 names from the NDP slate. The At Large candidates are Dr. D. Orlando Smith, Archibald ‘Archie’ Christian, Ronnie Skelton and Myron Walwyn.

Meanwhile, the district candidates are: Claude Skelton Cline 2nd district; Kevin ‘OJ’ Smith 3rd district; Mark Vanterpool 4th district; Delores Christopher 5th district; Alvera Maduro Caines 6th district; incumbent Dr. Kedrick Pickering 7th district; Marlon Penn 8th district and Dr. Hubert O’Neal 9th district.

VINO you are something else you know! You said "dozens" were at the VIP motorcade and now you say "scores" were at the NDP motorcade. Remember dozens is mutiples of 12 and scores is mutiples of 10! However, NDP motocade had "centuries" of vehicles and people!!! VIP lost in comparison!

You might want to check your dictionary before attacking him for his word choice. A "score" is twenty, not ten. You seem to take issue with the idea that he made the NDP turnout seem smaller, but he did exactly the opposite - he said their motorcade was larger.

We will be retiring Omar & Fraser with effect from today. As a matter of fact we will rubber stamped all of the VIP today. NDP ALL THE WAY
