Landlord Bettito Frett denies Training Division closed due to sewerage issues
The article entitled 'Poor working conditions force another Gov't Dept to close' claimed that the reason for the closure was "reported sewerage issues."
However, the landlord Bettito Frett of BF Real Estate said to our newsroom today June 29, 2017 that "there was no sewerage problem."
It was the staff with leftover food- Frett
In fact Mr Frett said he inspected the Training Division Office and "the only problem found were several containers of leftover food in the three toilet bins and that created an odour."
He further stated that "the containers were emptied by the landlord who provided the Training Division with an air refresher to correct the problem."
In addition, Mr Frett, the building owner, asserted that after the odour was corrected the staff "happily occupied the premises today with no smell whatsoever."
Mr Frett also claimed that the Environmental Health and the Water and Sewerage Departments, two state owned agencies, visited his building and "confirmed that there was no sewerage problem."
Blame the Media
He accused our newsroom of "sensationalism" and being "irresponsible" and claimed that his building has high standards and was examined by a Puerto Rican Company, Indoor Environmental Consultants (IEC), which concluded there was no mold in that building, notwithstanding that the Virgin Islands News Online article never mentioned mold.
As of publication time no one from the Environmental Health Division or the Water and Sewerage Departments could be reached to verify or confirm Mr Frett's many claims.
