ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands’ Kleon ‘BigKle’ Penn made his debut for NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday October 10, 2015 against the Chicago Bulls in front of a packed house of 15,294 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

Penn entered the game in the 4th quarter with the Timberwolves already staring a defeat in the pre-season friendly game and had little opportunity to change the result, a 114-105 defeat, but had a solid game at Centre, alongside the likes of Kevin Garnett, Nick Wiggins, Tayshaun Prince and Andrew Wiggins.

With Penn on the court, the Timberwolves saw a plus four point swing, but it was too little too late.

E'Twaun Moore scored 18 points to lead the Chicago Bulls.

The big attraction, however, was Canada native and reigning NBA rookie of the year Andrew Wiggins, who had nine points in 24 minutes for the Timberwolves.

The teams crossed the border as part of this year's Canada Series. Five NBA teams are playing four exhibition games in cities that don't have teams -- Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal.

The Minnesota Timberwolves had announced on Friday September 18, 2015 that it had signed [British] Virgin Islands center Kleon 'BigKle' Penn and guard Nick Wiggins for the present NBA season.

Penn, 29, most recently played in 45 games with Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico, averaging 4.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 18.4 minutes per game. The 6’11 pivot recently competed in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships and was noticed by the interim Timberwolves head coach Sam Mitchell, who was coaching the USVI in the same competition.

Penn finished his college career at McNeese State in 2009.

The big man previously said he always wanted to have the opportunity to play in the NBA and would utilise the opportunity if called.

It don't look good for the big guy. Unfortunately going be heading back to Puerto Rico soon. I would have loved to have our guy there but doesn't look like that's going to happen. He not getting much minutes. Plus they just brought in another big who was former 1st round pick.

Stop being so darn negative for once in your sorry life, will you?

That's the reality but people don't want to hear it. At 29 his minutes will be limited. The article didn't even say if he scored, had a rebound, or a block, which means he probably didn't. So all the people who saying they going buy tickets to see him play may be sorely disappointed. Let's hope that he does well when he does get a few minutes to play though. But the reality is that he's no Tim Duncan (Super Star).

You sound like that jealous S***3 who amounted to nothing internationally and is total disappointment locally cause he can't get his head out his @$$.

Come on.....he might not have played very long but when he was on the court his presence was noticed. I don't understand why y'all have to speak such negativity before everything is said and done. He is doing a great job in training camp and he has represented his hometown very well. There is still a chance that he will be given a full contract and opportunity but negative thoughts and words such as these is not needed. The Lord always has a plan, it may not be with the Wolves but another team who recognizes his talent may approach. Think Positive and give your support and not speak negativity into existence.

It would be nice to hold a Timberwolves scrimmage game in the BVI infront of the home crowd.

He could still make the practice team or they may suggest he go D-league. If he was younger they may show more interest but truth of the matter is he is starting when everyone finishing at age 29. That a very seasoned vet. Not an up an coming rookie

He'll more than likely be playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and if he improves enough may get a called up to the real team if there's an injury or something to one of their star bigs.

I just don't get Tortola and guess I never will. He's in an NBA camp. Every kid that has ever dribbled a basketball in the world dreams of being where Klein is.
Age doesn't matter if he can help them be a contender right now. Kevin Garnett in same boat but he a star but he needs to impact the game.

Kleon like I told you the other night to make NBA you either have to be really Great at one thing or really Good at two things. You're a good rebounder and shotblocker . You will be a value to an NBA team even if its not Timberwolves trust me other GMs are noticing you. Keep pushing.

This exposure may lead to bigger things, like another team noticing him and signing him to replace an injured player. However, if he doesn't get playing time his chances will be slim. Check out the box score for the game. He played a minute and a half and didn't have any points, rebounds, assists, blocks or anything. http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/boxscore/2015-10-10/Chicago-at-Minnesota/219928

There was another player on Kleon's team who got the same amount of time and got no rebounds, assists, blocks or anything, and Garnett had 2 points. Kleon got a chance to play, albeit a short time, and must have been very nervous playing with guys of that calibre, which is natural. I believe he will contribute once he gets comfortable with the entire culture.

Don't get discouraged Kleon. everyone has a particular role in each game, and as coach mike encouraged, keep pushing, stay focused and you can only improve on your skills.

Well said JT. He is doing a fine job and needs everyone's support. He is a fine young man and a great player. The wolves obviously saw something in him to invite and then sign him to the training camp roaster. I pray that he continues to do good and the Lord will lead him thru, whether its with them, another team or back in Puerto Rico, around the world or right here at home.

Hey I knew it's the real you because I saw your post on the national team group site. You're right. Big Sexy got a lot to offer for any NBA team that has a need for a stopper in the paint trying to make a playoff run. Like you I think he's going to be fine.

Side note: You need to get back down here basketball is really falling off with those currently trying to do training, it's no where close to what you and 88 did and our youngns aint getting any better.

Do any of the older ball players remember Milt Newton...if not just google the name

Stop the negativity. We know he's really not NBA ready yet, but who is? 70% of NBA players aren't NBA ready when they get there. He could be a modern day Tree Rollins if given the opportunity and if he can keep up with the pace. Let the seed be planted, watered and grown. Sam Mitchell & Flip Saunders will coach him up.

I watched this game. He went in the game 1.31 in the 4th quarter.
