ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A spell of three wickets for nine runs in eight balls by Grenada’s medium pacer Frances Kitason sent the Cavaliers spiralling to defeat on Sunday May 24, 2015 as they looked to chase down the 251 runs required for victory and to stay alive in the LIME Superfast Twenty/20 League.

Having won the toss and batting first at Greenland Playfield, Grenada rattled up 250 for 7 with newly crowned recipient of the Nagico Green Cap Derol Redhead scoring 71 with 11 fours and 3 sixes. He shared in an opening stand of 87 with Daniel Frederick (43) and a second wicket stand of 62 with Rodney Marryshow before falling to a skied top edge off the bowling of Jagnarine Persaud.

Marryshow kept up the momentum as Grenada threatened to run away with a huge total before being hauled back in the last five overs.

Christianand Dhanpaul picked up 2 for 33 from four overs to restrict Grenada to less than fifty from the last five overs and Persaud finished with 2 for 41, including Marryshow for 67 (7 fours and 6 sixes).

The Cavaliers settled into the run chase and were just behind the run rate when Kitason replaced Trent Belfon and completely changed the game in favour of his team.

Aaron Baker was clean bowled for 30 after looking dangerous and Persaud, elevated up the order, fell soon after in similar fashion. Mohamed Hasan was then trapped in front to leave the chase in tatters at 76 for four in the 9th over.

Kwesi Sinclair (38), Teddy Nankishore (31) and Dhanpaul (37 not out) did their best to rescue the Cavaliers but in the end it was Grenada who rejoiced, confirming a semi-final spot and leaving the Cavaliers to do a lot of rethinking before next season as they are now out of the competition

Kitason finished with 3 for 33, whilst Marryshow, Irwin Lewis, Rodney Modeste and Jason Thomas all had one wicket each.

The concluding group matches on Sunday May 31, 2015 will see Vikings playing NTCoG at 11.00am and Earl Tree Shotters against Royal Knights.
