“Kidney Health” Campaign 5K Walk/Run on Saturday
The free walk/run will support the “Kidney Health” campaign to heighten awareness about renal failure, also known as kidney failure within the Virgin Islands.
Renal failure is a medical condition whereby the kidneys fail to adequately filter waste products from the blood. When renal failure reaches irreversible stages, patients will need a kidney transplant or must be placed on dialysis treatment for the rest of their lives.
Participants are kindly asked to meet at the new Peebles Hospital parking lot at 5:30 am this Saturday. The walk/run route will be from the new Peebles Hospital parking lot, through Main Street to the Sunday Morning Well, continue past the Mulit-Purpose Sports Complex, continue down to Port Purcell Roundabout and back to the Hospital parking lot by way of the Main Road.
The walk/run is geared towards providing physical activity to all participants to encourage a healthier lifestyle which is a major component for healthy kidneys. The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority is committed to providing services to the residents and visitors that will improve their health and wellbeing.
