Ms Alexander’s employment commenced today, July 2, 2019.

“I am excited to welcome Ms Alexander to the Ministry and congratulate her on the new position as my social media accounts manager,” Honourable Wheatley said in a press release issued on June 2, 2019

He added, “I would like to also take this opportunity to encourage all persons with disabilities to strive for excellence; anything is possible once you put your mind to it.”

Ms Alexander, who was featured by Virgin Islands News Online as a Young Professional in February 2018, was born with cerebral palsy, which is a group of disorders that affect muscle movement and coordination. She is said to have overcome many obstacles and has excelled in every other facet of her life.

High achiever

Ms Alexander graduated from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division with high honours and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College with honours with an Associate in Arts General Studies, English Concentration. She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Media Studies, and has also been a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and the Golden Key International Honour Society.

Ms Alexander said she is passionate about writing especially about human experiences and social issues, and is enthusiastic about using information technology systems to promote products and ideas. She is also determined and committed and will use all the resources at her disposal to complete assignments, the press release stated.

Back in February the social media enthusiast told our newsroom that she intended to expand her business and to obtain a Master's Degree in Business Journalism.

In addition, she wanted to have a strong social media marketing presence and establish herself as an advertising agent.
