ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Football fans made their way to their favourite sports bars across the Territory on Sunday, February 2, 2020 to witness Super Bowl LIV, which was a clash between Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

With almost an equal amount of fans for both sides at the various venues, it was an atmosphere of mixed emotions as Patrick L. Mahomes II produced a staggering fourth-quarter performance to guide the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years.

Stunning comeback win

The champs managed to come from 10 points behind to stun the San Francisco 49ers and their fans across the world, 31-20, in Miami.

Quarterback Mahomes, 24, the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Pat Mahomes, had endured a difficult evening under the pounding pressure of the 49ers and looked set to miss out on the big prize.

But then, with his side 20-10 down heading into the fourth quarter, last year's MVP found two superb throws on third down to continue a season of comebacks as the Chiefs scored 21 unanswered points in four minutes and 57 seconds to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

One of the not so thrilled football fans was Jost van Dyke resident, Mr Gregory A. Callwood, who was rooting for the 49ers to win.

Callwood and a number of football fans viewed the game at the popular Foxy’s Tamarind Bar on Jost van Dyke.

Among the other venues for fans was Captain Mulligan’s on Nanny Cay, where again there were fans supporting both of the teams.

JLo & Shakira deliver @ half-time

One of the things most fans were on the same page with was the entertainment during half-time by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez

The pair had promised more songs than ever before during their 12 minutes in the spotlight, and rattled through around 20 hits between them, must to the satisfaction of fans.

The show also incorporated a tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who died alongside his daughter and seven others in a helicopter crash last weekend.

As Lopez's daughter performed the opening bars of Let's Get Loud, a giant cross illuminated the field of Miami's Hard Rock stadium in yellow and purple, the colours of Bryant's team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
