ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Attractive smiles, brilliant sunshine, happy children and lots of excitement were all in evidence when the Rotary Club of Road Town held its 19th Annual Kiddies Fiesta today, July 28, 2012.

The Fiesta started with a parade which saw participation from a number of troupes with children of varying ages. Their costumes consisted of a wonderful array of rainbow colours flowing in rhythmic motion to their fluid movements along the route. The troupes included participants from the Moko Jumbies, U’Neek Dancers and others.

Participants winded their way down the parade route to the accompaniment of blaring sound systems which escorted each section. While characters Sponge Bob and Elmo further added to the colour and entertainment along the parade route, eliciting even brighter smiles and tight hugs from many of the children participating. Participants also included Miss BVI 2012 contestants who led the parade riding ahead in open convertibles offering smiles and waves along the way.

The parade culminated at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park where festivities continued. There the pageant contestants cut a ribbon, officially launching proceedings for the remainder of the day. The fun park included booths with face painting, inflatable bouncy castles and many other attractions.

Speaking briefly about this year’s parade, Mr. Trefor Grant, President of the Rotary Club of Road Town, said he thought they had “a wonderful parade.”

He added that all “the lovely rainbow colours coincided with the Theme for this year’s event which is ‘Peace Through Service’.”

The Rotary club also had their own troupe made up of the theme for this year and saw the participation of several other private groups. He concluded that “We are happy with the turnout.”

Mr Dwight Pickering, whose daughter participated in the parade for the first time, with all smiles said “we are happy about the way things went. I don’t think it could have been any better.”

lord have mussy the sun was hot but hot sun don't stop the show...I find all the children had really proved that point..(one or two got tire in the hot sun because of their costumes. But these costumes I find were very awesome, worn by our kids and participants big and small. And oh the performance of the moko jumbies in the hot sun took the cake and made it about fun!!! fun!!!! fun!!!!! Rotary with this success we expect you to showcase these kids in the August Monday parade. Good job to all organizers.
