JVD residents shun NDP politicians
According to several persons residing on the sister island, including one woman who had no qualms about having her name mentioned, Ms Inga Wallison, several residents did not mince their words on how they felt about being neglected by Government when the NDP's Territorial At Large Representatives Hon Archibald C. Christian and Hon Myron V. Walwyn and Second District Candidate on the NDP ticket Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull, along with others, were on a campaign walk-about on Friday May 8, 2015 attempting to convince residents to give the NDP their votes on Election Day, June 8, 2015.
"These people don't take sister islands seriously, mainly us at Jost Van Dyke and our brothers and sisters at Anegada, and while I am not yet qualified to vote here because I don't have that status I am a valued member of this community and I pay my dues and if it had not been for business people like me many things over here would not get done," said Ms Wallison.
She explained that she was among a group of eligible voters that were approached by the NDP campaigners. "The one Archie…and the tall drink of water Myron got balls to put themselves out here only come ripping down Alvin Christopher just to get vote," she alleged.
"He Archie said in Carrot Bay they ain't calling names on the campaign, now look he come here talking bull about Alvin. What Alvin was to do? Go in he pocket and do what Government should be doing? Hell, be fair, politics, politics, politics," said the woman.
JVD contractors shun NDP mudslinging
This was the very complaint of others, including a group of contractors, who opted not to be named as they claimed they are usually subjected to victimisation and discrimination. They said they found it an insult that the politicians, especially Hon Walwyn and Hon Christian, would use the strategy of pulling down the District Two representative.
"They in power, they handling the money, they got the majority in the House, they had everything in their hands and they were At Large representatives and they did nothing for us during the past couple years and their balls big enough to come tell we Alvin ain't do nothing for us and this and that. Alvin could have only listened to us and make representation and if you follow the House them big boys of the NDP don't pay no mind to the Opposition so why come now to us when you did nothing for us,” said one contractor.
Another said, "When we see you doing for us next time around that may cause us to vote for you, for now get the hell out here, we aint want hear nothing now, nothing, we always get treated as step children. Just leave us alone, Myron and Archie leave us alone."
The NDP’s Second District Candidate is Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull. The incumbent representative, Hon J. Alvin Christopher of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP), in a surprise move, is now running as a Territorial At Large candidate with newcomer and former LIME Executive Mr Elford W. Parsons contesting that district on the PEP slate.
The VIP candidate is Rajah A. Smith.

#NotOneVote
In 2015 I don't have that confidence that I had for the past 4 elections. It is with
a heavy heart I will be voting VIP.
NDP is the best thing that ever happen to the BVI .shut up fools .Fr***** and ro**** are self centered people
Ndp should be ashame!! Cart your "£$% from here
some take it with their mouth shut but I take mines and run.
people of the B v i you have the power in your hands please use it wisely
because after june 8th you will be powerless
Of course the VIP is no better. Look at what they did to Ocean Conversion and CCT? Truth be told the BVI Investment Club are made up of a bunch of greedy people but they are our people abd I would rather see the money stay here and invested in the BVI rather that have it invested elsewhere. My biggest fear is that if the VIP is voted in to office they would squander the money the NDP Government managed to set aside as surplus in the name of looking after the small men who are mostly lazy people who depend on tax payers like me who pay over a thousand dollars every months in taxes to support them finally.
One of the biggest problem facing this BVI is party politics. I am sick and tired of partisan politics. What is needed is a group of young honest people who will have the country at heart rather than working to enrich themselves and those they are beholden to. Until then, the BVI will continue to suffer.
