JVD man appealing rape conviction

Ricky Callwood is currently serving a five year sentence.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Ricky Callwood, who is currently serving five years for raping his tenant on Jost Van Dyke (JVD), will get a chance to appeal his conviction next week when the Appeal Court opens on January 16, 2012.

He was found guilty of the sexual related offense on April 2010 in the High Court. The verdict was 7-2.

The JVD resident was arrested and charged after the Virtual Complainant (VC) told investigating officers that he raped her on September 15, 2007 at his White Bay residence. She had visited the home to collect some mutton.

During the trial, the jurors heard that Callwood grabbed her and pushed her on a sofa. It was revealed that the VC was wearing a short skirt and the two began to struggle and ended with the convicted man raping her.

Shocked over the incident, the VC later informed her boyfriend who was in St. Thomas at the time. The matter was reported on September 17, 2007 to Police.

Ricky stay strong. Your conviction will be overturned. The jurors who found you guilty were'nt thinking with their head. This time you will be judged by learned people. Sometimes the Lord allows somethings to happen to us to slow us down from our self destructive speed. Maybe this is what had happened to you. Just continue to pray as I will be praying for you also.

Ricky is just a man who made a mistake, the justice system that put him in jail is what's criminal . You Sunday only "Christians" can judge him a sinner if you want, but he is no fellon. In my opinion, he is a saint compared to that skank ho that lured him in and set him up.
