BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – While commending the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government on the ‘great job’ they have been doing, one caller from the sister island of Jost van Dyke has declared that the island is doing a lot better under the Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) administration, that it did under previous administrations.

The caller was at the time speaking on the Tuesday, February 16, 2021, first edition of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) 'Let's Talk' radio show on ZBVI 780 AM and live-streamed on Facebook.

“All my minister, you all doing a good job and thank God we have you guys at this time… we have all our fire station in place, we have our new Customs building in place, we have roads, water is going… we getting a little help with stipend here and there”

The caller further thanked Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) for his works to bring improved water distribution to the island, despite challenges and thanked the government for initiatives such as food distribution programmes during Christmas 2020.

Gov't commended for job in keeping VI safe

“Hon Carvin Malone you’re doing a great job keeping us save my brother. Because even when Hon Fahie was trying to open the country, you had to put your foot down and say no,” he said.

The Premier said that close to 20 public meetings were held to know the views and input of the people across the territory.

He said while COVID-19 took millions of dollars to ensure among other initiatives, that the VI has a certified testing lab, some funding challenges were created for other areas.

‘We continue to press on regardless’, the Premier said while encouraging more input from the community and noting that the VI did not reach the point of low COVID-19 cases by accident, rather through sacrifices.

The Government ain’t perfect. What Government is? People are so used to being hurt etc that they can’t notice when healing actually begin. A lot of you’ll will say this and that but it’s the Government of the BVI is why most of you can hangout in groups to a extent, go to Church to an extent & have functions to an extent. Yet the same Government who kept us safe including loud mouth no actions Miss C***Y; will want to say different. Many of you get upset when the Premier put “God” before his doings and get vex yet how many of you’ll grab you’ll phone 1st in the morning without acknowledging God. The VIP did a great job and will be re-elected. Likes and dislikes doesn’t define anything. The number at the polls does.

This caller must have gotten a lil stipend and good but on the main island where I am I have not seen water in months, but a monthly bill no mailbox for years and for which I pay yearly sleepless nights due to the favored noisemakers and their promised votes..I am in line for a formal complaint to the WHO to conveniently coincide with the COI.

No one who is not from here did not get anything on jvd. vIP have their special people that they give everything too. From the 13,500 the only friends and family got to the money that mitch shared out and well as the two or three sets of money fahie personally shared out

It’s sad but it’s true & this isn’t something to brag about. JVD has been ignored by basically every administration and is still WAY under serviced. The residents are finally at least getting some attention but it’s not nearly enough. Broken down school, bad roads, customs dock too small, ferry dock too small, barge ramp too small, inconsistent water, virtually no EMS, no bank, no government services to speak of and now a crippled economy. They shouldn’t be acting like JVD is being done a favor every time they come over, it’s their DUTY.
