Junior ballers get into action Saturday in Hon Fraser Save the Seed League

-Junior League to focus on discipline, fundamentals & teamwork

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- It will be time for the junior basketball players to exhibit their skills and knowledge of the game when the Junior Division of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League tips off this Saturday September 12, 2015.

Jump ball time will be 5:00 PM at the Save the Seed Energy Centre Basketball Court in Duff’s Bottom.

Four teams will be participating in the Junior Basketball League to be coordinated by local basketball star and coach Jason A. Edwin.

The age group of players are 9-13 with 1 fourteen-year-old allowed on each team. The teams in the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Junior League are Elite Ballerz, Jr Young Stars, Jr Avengers, and Swaggas.

Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays.

This Saturday, September 12, 2015, will see the 2014 Champions Jr Young Stars taking on Elite Ballerz at 5:00 PM at the Save the Seed Energy Centre.

Junior League about discipline, fundamentals & teamwork

Fans should be warned not to expect too much of show boating and individual play as has been exhibited in the senior league as, according to Junior League Coordinator Mr Jason A. Edwin, the fundamentals of the game will take centre stage.

“We want to stress on discipline, fundamentals, and teamwork so part of my focus is to make sure that we stress on those areas. It’s a junior level so we want to stress on the fundamentals of the game,” Mr Edwin told Virgin Islands News Online.

The talented player and coach, who has played for the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) national team on several occasions, also encouraged parents to show support for their children by attending games.

    Told you how Tortola always trying to cheat. If league is from 9-13 why not leave it that way. Why add one 14 year old per team. Just make another league 14-16.

    Only four teams, that's very laughable. There should be more done for the youth. Also did someone declare this guy mister basketball of Tortola? He didn't even represent our national team and the players that did can't get nay support for their programs, don't figure.
