ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA has defeated First District Representative Hon Andrew A. Fahie for the post of Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party at its internal elections held this evening May 28, 2014 at Maria’s by the Sea.

The two leading personalities in the 43 year old party competed for the position vacated by Hon Ralph T.
O’Neal OBE, the 80 year old political stalwart who chose to step aside to make way for a successor. Fraser received 44 votes compared to Fahie's 30.

Party delegates were said to be split between Hons. Fraser and Fahie the two VIP Legislators who have been the main voices of the Opposition holding the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government accountable.

Supporters for both sides which include delegates and non-delegates had over the past weeks been advocating for the candidate of their choice and many had expressed surprise that Hon Fahie had been gaining momentum.

It is believed that the NDP will be afraid to face a Fraser victory since it is felt that he would be a more formidable party leader in the next general elections.

VIP or NDP it doesn't matter, our concern should be for the benefit of the country. If parties are fighting against each other what example are they setting for the younger generation.

Fraser has been e........ing himself on the news lately just showing how old school and d...y he his trying to play. Trying to make it seem like he's involved but he clearly has no idea. He does not have what it takes to ... . ..... and it would be the biggest political m....ke if we as Virginislanders elect this man into power. My people let's put aside this war between parties and make decisions that could benefit our country!

tough times need tough people, hard times need smart people, desperate times need wisdom. which category is the BVI? I will say in the desperate category. A wise leader will surround himself with the appropriate skills.
