ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- There are always many reasons to be thankful on New Year’s Day; however, that day was made particularly special and joyous for the Downing family of Chalwell Estate.

The family welcomed a bouncing baby boy into this world at 8:56 A.M. on New Year’s Day 2018.

The bundle of joy has been named Jose V. Downing.

It is the lone delivery at Peebles Hospital on New Year’s Day.

The overjoyed parents, Marlourgui Marcias- Downing and Thor Downing, were congratulated and presented with a gift basket from the staff of Peebles Hospital.

It is the second child for the Downings. Their first child, Roger Downing, 2 years of age, was also born at Peebles Hospital.

There were reportedly no babies born on Christmas Day at Peebles Hospital.

It was on January 1, 2014 that four babies were born at the Obstetrics Ward of the Peebles Hospital, creating a new record, according to the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA).

Two of the New Year’s babies were twins.

It was reported then that the former record was made in 2009 when two babies were born on New Year’s Day.
