Jobs Board new feature on Financial Services Institute website
The Jobs Board is designed specifically for the financial services industry. The only requirement for companies to advertise their vacant positions is that the entity must be a legally operating body in the Virgin Islands, and regulated by the Financial Services Commission.
President of HLSCC Dr. Karl Dawson said the Jobs Board is another initiative to serve both the students and the industry, adding that the College seeks to serve students from the time they enter any area of the institution until they reach their goals.
Employers wishing to place adverts on the “JOBSBOARD” should in the first instance send the information to Director of the FSI Andrew Burns, email aburns@hlscc.edu.vg. A template, specifying how the information should be laid out, has been disseminated to industry.
The College’s intention is for this service to act as a conduit to bring together employers and those in the community looking for employment within the financial services industry.
“An increasing number of employers have over the past six months been contacting us looking for quality staff,” said Mr. Burns. However, the institution is not allowed to give out student information to employers, or to anyone else, without permission.
“We also get regular requests from students either looking for their first job or, in some cases, seeking a change of employment. This situation is also often difficult to address without crossing the current employer,” he explained.
It is against this background that the College saw it fitting to create a forum through which all financial services vacancies can be posted, thereby providing a central point for those either looking for staff, or for members of the community looking for employment, within the sector.
“We do hope that the website proves to be popular and that it assists with helping to facilitate the free exchange of information as regards vacancies in the financial services industry in the territory,” added Mr. Burns.
The FSI was launched on 9 October 2002 with the aim of responding to the evolving training needs of the financial services sector, as well as serving as a centre for excellence in education and training for the industry.
