EAST END, Tortola, VI – Cute and beautiful were the sight of the little boys dressed in the white shirts complete with bow ties and the girls with their hair decorated with bows at the Willard Wheatley Primary School yesterday October 31, 2014.

It was the final day of the Month’s observances of Cancer Awareness around the world, a part of which the Virgin Islands was very participatory as they extended the olive branch to management, members, and beneficiaries of the BVI Cancer Society.

But one of the main aims of the society here is to extensively work with children from the earliest age possible to promote proper health practices especially with the types of food they consume among others that can lead them to good health as they grow.

That objective took off with a bang with the extent of school children’s participation in observances of breast and other cancers during the month. At the Willard Wheatley Primary School the Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) did their part.

“The PTA Board of the Willard Wheatley Primary School partnered with J-Soriah’s bows this year to support the cause by painting the town pink. What we did was we tried to feature young men in this endeavour and as a result we got bow ties for the boys with the breast cancer sign on them and we got the girls to do hair bows,” said the School’s PTA President Mrs Stephany Brewley-George.

She further explained, “The young entrepreneur Sandy Parillon who did these we also featured her as she partnered, so we are going through J-Soriah’s to give back to the Cancer Society because she is partnering with them, so as we purchase from her we are supporting the cause.”

At the school the Principal and staff were evenly excited and into the cause with the children. Young J’Khoy Frett the Prince of this Year’s Prince and Princess show led the boys of the school in their awareness as they carried message cards bearing several messages relating to the topic of Cancer.

Along with the President was her Vice President Ms Samantha Nibb who was present yesterday at the school with the parents and teachers.

Kudos to the Principal, staff, students, and parents of the Willard Wheatley Primary school for supporting such a worthy cause . You all look GREAT. Only good things come out of the EAST. BIG UP Teacher Enid you doing a good job. Marlon get behind her and the school and let we do this thing. I expect to see great things for the children for Christmas too.
