Jeremy W. Hodge is acting Permanent Secretary

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - His Excellency the Governor, Mr Augustus J. U Jaspert on the advice of the Public Service Commission, has approved the acting appointment of Mr Jeremy W. Hodge as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works.

This is according to a press release from the Government Information Service dated February 20, 2019, which states that Mr Hodge’s appointment came into effect on February 4, 2019.  As Permanent Secretary, Mr Hodge will serve as chief advisor to the Minister for Communications and Works on the management, leadership and execution of subjects that are within the minister’s portfolio.

Additionally, he will oversee the overall coordination and management of the office and ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Government policies and procedures. Mr Hodge’s role includes employing panoramic policy oversight over all the departments within the Ministry of Communications and Works, among many other duties.

Since joining the Public service in 2004, Mr Jeremy W. Hodge maintained his managerial contribution as a Performance Manager Assistant to the Human Resources Manager to his current position as Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works.  Mr Hodge has served as an Office Manager and Senior Assistant Human Resources Manager from 2006 to 2007; Human Resources Manager, Ministry of Finance 2007 to 2015; Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Works 2015 to 2019; Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Works (July 1 - 29, 2016).

Mr Hodge holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from Manchester University, UK; an Executive Diploma in Management from McKechnie Institute, UK; a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Human Resources Management from InterAmerican University, Puerto Rico; and an Associates of Science in Business Administration from H Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is the arm of the Government responsible for the infrastructural development of the Territory.  This responsibility is achieved through departments, statutory bodies and committees.
