BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Public Works Director Jeffrey M. Skelton has reportedly retired from his post. This is according to information reaching the Virgin Islands News Online.

According to sources, Mr Skelton’s final day was June 5, 2018, and his Deputy, G. Navarro Donovon, subsequently assumed responsibility of his duties.

While the Government has not announced a replacement for the former Director, sources have indicated that a non- national will be filling the vacancy.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) Administration has been under fire for the poor state of public infrastructure such as the roads, given that funds have been disbursed but there have been no improvements.

The non-national will be able to stop those who does take the government time every Wednesday/Thursday/Friday to go St. Thomas to run their business clearing people's post office boxes and still getting paid for not being on the government job.

Finally!!! What an utter waste of resources this hire was. More political than anything the PWD department has been an abject failure under the guy’s watch. Friends and family collusions, no-value for money, lack of direction for he department. An administrative nightmares this was. A thourough EXTERNAL audit of the entire department is warranted. Will this happen? No. The drum beat goes on and the country looks worst that’s Haiti or some other struggling economy. When will the free rides and lunches end? It is past making the dog sick now man! Good riddance to a failed manager!
