Jefferson Joseph sentenced to 30 months in prison

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Jefferson Joseph, who police allege was in the company of another when he was stopped by a traffic officer and found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and was subsequently slapped with other charges including drug possession, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Mr Joseph appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today, November 20, 2013 for his sentencing after previously pleading guilty to all the charges, which included possession of an unlicensed firearm (one Luger 9mm pistol) with an obliterated serial number, possession of explosives (9 rounds of 9mm ammunition and possession of cocaine.

The court handed Mr Joseph 18 months imprisonment for possession of an unlicenced firearm, 2 months for possession of explosives, 7 months for possession of cannabis, and 30 months for possession of cocaine.

The sentences are to run concurrently, which means Joseph is only likely to spend 30 months in prison.

    Repeat offender, multiple drug charges, loaded gun at home and 30mths? Why should I work when I can be hustling, robbing etc. and just get a vacay for a few months?

    30 months...that's not too long...nice!!! That should give him enough time to think about how he's gonna "wipe the smile" off of the face of one of his arresting officers...smh...I hope the magistrate will be able to live with herself after that happens...only in the BVI!!!
