Jazz on the Hill a ‘Magical’ night
Persons came for all corners of the Virgin Islands and neighbouring US Virgin Islands for the evening which featured the international Jazz sensation Julie Dexter. For the greater extent of the night while the wind was heavy and chilly there was no need for persons to wrap in their shawls, scarf or jacket as the performances were of such that they created a warmth.
Prior to the uniqueness of Julie Dexter’s and band’s stage performance Kamau A. Georges, Dalan M. Vanterpool, Calden James and Ouida put on a feature called ‘D Spot Jazz’, one that promised to light the skies and the jazz flare of fans in a way that has never been seen or heard before.
The Latino community and other lovers of Latin music are also had their treat from this year’s Jazz on the Hill as there will be a special session with Ruben and the Latin Jazz combination.
The main man behind Bayside Rhythms Mr Wasi Philbert had moments of nostalgia as he reminisced on how others invested in him to get him a solid education. “That was what [we] and Bayside Rhythms [were] keen about by taking on this event this year. It’s the cause,” he told this news site last evening.
According to Mr Philbert himself and team, Dalan M. Vanterpool and Kamau A. Georges making decision to take on the event was because of the cause and not the money. “Doing this as a charity is more rewarding to us, knowing that we would have invested in the lives of some budding child it reminds that someone invested in us and that I say from my heart, somebody, not a relative or persons that I knew personally, invested in me and this is the way I am paying forward,” stated Mr Philbert.
While the proceeds of the ‘Magical’ night goes to the St Mary’s Primary School the group was able to also provide groundbreaking moments for at least three other youths including one that is still in high school. They all had the opportunity to perform on stage last night adding to the bliss of a worthwhile night of entertainment.
Wasi Philbert said without a doubt Bayside Rhythm is willing to make the Jazz on the Hill their annual ‘paying forward’ feature for the St. Mary’s Primary. “We are willing to do this again next year and like our usual way of doing things you can be sure that it’s only going to get bigger and better.”
