ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – “Yes indeed I am ready, I am very ready for the challenge and the experience,” Miss BVI Jaynene Jno Lewis told Virgin Islands News Online today as she winded down preparation to leave these shores to represent the territory at this year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

Crowned Miss BVI 2014 -2015 at the 60th Anniversary Miss BVI Pageant, Miss Jaynene Jno Lewis is all set to represent the Virgin Islands on the international stage at the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant and, according to her, one thing she had to work the hardest at doing for herself is learning the art of make-up and hairstyling as this will be one thing she has to do once on the international scene.

She said that most importantly for her was her involvement in being a mentor in the lives of many youths across the territory. “My phone is usually very busy as I get so many calls from young people seeking advice, asking for guidance, its real and I am a person who loves young people so working with them at all levels has been a tremendous quest for me,” she told this news site.

All of the Virgin Islands is being encouraged to send up prayers, show love and give support for Ms Jno Lewis as she leaves the territory tomorrow Tuesday January 6, 2015 to compete in the 63rd Annual MISS UNIVERSE Pageant.

Natalie Morales of the “Today” show and MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts are set to host “The 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant,” which airs live Sunday, January 25 from 8pm /7c on NBC with simulcast in Spanish on Telemundo.

“The 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant” will feature nearly 90 contestants from across the globe. The participants will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe 2013 will crown her successor at the conclusion of the three-hour telecast.

Jaynene Jno Lewis sees herself as a dedicated and passionate individual. She has zeal to assume a leadership role, which allows her to help build a healthy and worthy community. This zeal led Jaynene to participate in the Miss BVI Pageant back in 2008. After being unsuccessful, she was motivated to work harder and eventually win the 60th title in 2014.

Germaine Smith of One Stop Mall is the local designer for Jaynene’s wardrobe. There are some special event leading up to the pageant such as the interview segment, business wear, an all-white outfit for the Chinese Laundry event and a black and white outfit for a runway show.

Cocktail dresses and the spectacular Yellow Evening Gown, using sparkling accessories replicating the Caribbean Sea and the BVI all year round sunshine, make up the queen’s wardrobe. Added to this is Jaynene costume which depicts the Vigilate.

The special auction prize from the VI was donated by Nail Bay Resort, thanks to Mr Trefor Grant.

Chairperson of the Miss BVI Pageant Ms Alesia Hamm, along with her team, wishes Jaynene all the best on this great adventure and encourages her be the best “BVI Ambassador” in representing the territory at this prestigious pageant. The BVI Pageant Committee has also extended special thanks to Antonio Jeffers, Akeema Crabbe and Judith Smith for their assistance in helping prepared Jaynene for the pageant.

Send the girl who suppose to go she does a good job in representing the BVI besides she is entitled for an international pageant. The committee suck.

I quite agree with you. They said they had no funding to send Rosanna but they now find for this one..The more things change, the more they stay the same..I will continue to say this pageant committee needs revamping. Until they get sued they will never change.

theo other girl went to the miss world pageant which is also an international pageant. Have you read the pageant news about that, she was one of the worst in the national costume. FYI

You and the rest of unlearnt idiots must go back and study the meaning of the Anegada Iguana. Shame of you to join with the unlearnt. You all don't even know your culture and what the symbols are and what they stands for. Ms. Chichester did good with what was provided to her and the rest is for you all who like mele to go find out.

Rosanna just came back from Ms World isn't it fair to send another eligible contestant to another pageant. Just sending a representative will reap so much benefits to the BVI moreso in the former of tourism and investment and so much more. We tend to look at the negatives and not so much the positives unless it is coming our way solely and personally

Miss Concern you never knew that it is Rosanna's prize and she deserves it. Miss world is not miss bvi committee franchise. Please get you all facts before you say things that make you sound stupid.

tbh, we will never win, do you see what you guys are up against? like be real with yourselves.
    • tretretrete (07/01/2015, 14:12) Like (3) Dislike (0) Reply
@tbh the only reason we will never win is because we dont have the funds to buy out the entire even to secure the win. The person who has the greatest revenue generation potential WILL win. One thing for sure is that the winners of all these so called pageants share in common is the ability to SELL SELL SELL.
