ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Mr James Telesford John, who was charged and tried a few years ago by the Crown following a major drug bust on Tortola, reportedly died on Wednesday January 25, 2017.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, Mr John was on a LIAT flight to the Virgin Islands when he appeared non-responsive. Mr John had arrived in St Martin on another airline and the connecting flight was ready to depart St Martin for Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island when Mr John was noticed to be in a state of distress.

It is believed Mr John boarded the flight to Beef Island in the care of a medical professional. He was reportedly returning from Jamaica where he was hospitalised for some time with stage 4 lung cancer and prior to take-off his condition took another turn for the worse.

The LIAT flight then returned to the gate, according to two passengers who spoke exclusively to our newsroom. Mr John had also received paramedical support but reportedly died in the process.

On November 7, 2014 Mr James T. John appeared before Magistrate Dr Velon L. John and was sentenced to three years in prison, fined $100, 000 and an additional 12 months for cash found on his person at the time of a drug bust.

You are missing the point. You too have NDP cancer in your damn head. Its your troubles who just began and won't end. The difference between you and me is that I don't give a damn about NDP, VIP or none of the other P's, cause at the end of the day, they WILL do whatever the hell they want. But as for WOW, BET and you concern, ayou think, breathe and eat POLITICS. This is about the death of a man who did not even die in the BVI. Shut your hole and go deal with your own political troubles that seem to have no end. I am owned by NO party. Just offer condolences and go back in your hole.

Throughout my life, I have wondered how people who think of themselves as decent, honorable “Christians” can be so indifferent and cruel to others.

Despite his way of life, he was a very respectable guy in the community. He was approachable, kind hearted and talks with anybody and a very good seaman. He'll be well missed by those that he has touched.
