Jamal S. Smith appointed Chairman of VI Arbitration Tribunal

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Local Attorney-at-Law Jamal S. Smith has been appointed the new Chairman of the Virgin Islands' Arbitration Tribunal for the next two years, effective August 1, 2020.

According to the Virgin Islands Official Gazette Vol. LIV, No. 88, the appointment was made by Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9).

Hon Wheatley declared, "I hereby appoint, Mr Jamal S. Smith, as the Chairman of the Arbitration Tribunal with effect from 1st August, 2020 for a period of two (2) years."

He was appointed by Hon Wheatley under Section 29 of the Labour Code 2010, (No. 3 of 2010).

Mr Smith will serve until August 2022 at the helm of Arbitration Tribunal.

    Didnt kno that Trubunal still exist.... Difficult to see a lawyer going against his boss in Public.... He may say in private.." Boss you were wrong but I couldnt rule against you. I had to find a way to rule for you"... Its going be hard to win a case against the govt.
