In the first half both teams attacked searching for an early advantage in the tense atmosphere. Kenwyne Jones had an early look on goal, but Jamaican Goalkeeper Andre Blake was equal to the shot sending it out for a corner.

Jamaican Captain Rudolph Austin who was outstanding in midfield all match would also come close in midway through the first half.

In the second half Jamaica would begin dominating possession in the match as the Reggaeboyz seem to receive a new burst of energy. Striker for the Boyz Darren Mattocks was outstanding giving the Trinidad defense trouble, but Trinidad would also have their moments, as attacking pair Kenwyne Jones and Kevin Molino gave the Jamaican defense a torrid time.

The first miss of the night would come as a surprise as Cardiff City forward Kenwyne Jones missed from the spot for Trinidad & Tobago as Andre Blake would make the first save.

Trinidad would recover when Michael Seaton hit a low shot which Jan Williams would save. After being deadlocked on penalties it was Khaleem Hyland who would hit his penalty over the bar which gave Jamaica the victory and 2014 CFU Men's Caribbean Cup.

Earlier in the 3rd place match Haiti defeated Cuba 2 -1 as the Haitians would end their Caribbean Cup tournament on a high.

Jerome Mechack would open the scoring in the 56 minute to make the score 1 - 0 in the second half. Wilde Donald Guerrier would double the lead in the 86th minute of play.

Cuba would end of the match by scoring what would be a consolation goal in the 89th minute by Ariel Gonzalez.
