LOWER ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Residents of the Rainbow Children’s Home in Lower Estate, Tortola, have been gifted with a much needed laptop for Christmas, thanks to child philanthropist Jaleel F. Cameron and members of the Jaleel Cameron Foundation.

The brand new laptop, along with other gifts, was presented to the children’s home on Friday, December 20, 2019.

‘We care’- Jaleel F. Cameron

According to Cameron, when the members of the Jaleel Cameron Foundation learnt of the struggles the live-in children have been going through with completing their homework, due to the absence of a laptop, "We decided we must help and so we sourced a laptop and surprised them."

Christmas comes once a year but for Cameron and his foundation, they frequent the home throughout the year to assist where they can and just to interact with the children.

"We could just come once a year and give Christmas gifts but that doesn't really show that we care for children," Cameron said.

"The children in this home cannot help their circumstances so it's always good to let them know that someone is always here for them."

‘The BVI is doing well’- Hon Vincent O. Wheatley

Appreciation was also expressed by Cameron towards the Government of the Virgin Islands for its continued support in his philanthropic endeavors.

Present at the Home for the short presentation ceremony were Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and a personal friend of Cameron, Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), both of whom applauded the foundation's commitment to the children of the Rainbow Children’s Home.

In brief remarks, Hon [Vincent] Wheatley said: "It is said that you can judge a nation by the way it treats its children and most vulnerable, its children and its old people, and from this gesture here today we can say that the BVI is doing well. I must say thanks to Jaleel and the Jaleel Cameron Foundation for his humanitarian efforts over the past few years."

Dr [Natalio] Wheatley said: "I know the work that he and the foundation has been doing over the years is well needed and welcomed. We know about the work he did previously in raising money for the hospital and all the other works he has been doing in the community from when he was a lot shorter!"

Both ministers of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government pledged their continued support to Cameron and his foundation.

@Diaspora: if you are keeping up with the news, you will notice that where you see one, you will see the other. So they are both working, they are both jamming.

Im all in with this move and i applaud Jaleel and his team but we need to learn to stop seeking recognition for every single thing we do....We can do without the cameras....And no im not picking on this specifically but everything that is donated in the bvi is alwayssssss on the news....WHY?

How are you so sure that it is every single donation that is being recognized? Do you have a list of all donations that take place and check the news to see if it was Recognized? We need to stop assuming and let things be ......
