GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI - President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Mr Carvin Malone told residents of Jost Van Dyke that they need to be prepared as elections in 2015 is a possibility and their part to play in getting out the present ruling NDP party is to become members of the VIP.

In urging the residents to become knowledgeable of the constitution of the VIP he told them that there are two seats for Jost Van Dyke on the VIP executive. “Tonight is important for us to set the ball rolling to let you know that the whole process of taking the country back [and] leading it in the right direction has to start,” he said.

Mr Malone served as the chairperson at his party’s first in a series of meetings on Jost Van Dyke on Wednesday July 16, 2014 which was held in the conference room of Rudy’s Bar.

Telling residents that with VIP Chairman Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) at the head of the party the perfect opportunity for the process of taking the country back is now ripe. “The opportunity is here for us to take the country back, put it in the right direction and make sure that we have people first and that we have the dreams and ideals of Jost Van Dyke, the dreams and ideals of the entire Territory from District 1 to District 9. It can be realized because there is a lot to be done...” said Mr Malone.

He said a simple cursory view of the development that has taken place on Jost Van Dyke brings to the realization the need for action.

He told residents that there it is important that their small businesses are supported by an administration who cares and understands, “And its only by doing this, by getting the Virgin Islands Party government in because if it is that we move towards a 15 seat House of Assembly (HoA) I am sure that the Virgin Islands Party will support representatives in the District from Jost Van Dyke and Anegada as opposed to two additional Territorial seats.”

The VIP President said that they need to put the power in the hands of the people, “… and the people of Jost Van Dyke know more about Jost Van Dyke than anyone else on Tortola or Virgin Gorda or anywhere else so their views and concerns can be better tabulated in the House (HoA)...”

I think what people want to hear is what the direction and priorities are. Fighting NDP head-on in finger-pointing and defensiveness will not work in the long run. It will get tiring and old. Stick to the message of people first.

But I also worry about over-development on JVD as more roads go in. There is a fine balance. Foxy and the charter boats want to see relaxed and natural. BVI is in growing pains right now. Take care of immediate business first and explain what is important and why. I'm sorry to day I cringe every time I hear Fraser beat his chest. The choice will soon be the lesser of two evils. Keep the message simple and grounded so everyone can understand it.

The truth always cause offense!!!! When I said that Mr. Fraser should be commended for having the courage to return to the BVI after having to go to the US with the help of his family to further his education because he was not one of the privilege few; The other site find it offensive and refuse to let the public make that case, but was quite willing to post the comment that I was referring to where the writer said: That Mr. Fraser was in the US for 30 years eating hamburgers and drinking coffee. I am quite comfortable with believing that Mr Fraser is very well qualified to be the next Premier.
