ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Motorists who might have been late for work or their Wednesday morning routine today June 14, 2017 had to endure traffic delays following a road accident.

It was around 9:00 AM when there was a collision between a Government vehicle (GV-0723) driven by the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Kye M. Rymer and another SUV, on the main road adjacent to Tortola Auto Group (TAG), close to Prospect Reef Hotel in Road Town.

The accident caused traffic back up in the middle of the morning rush hour; however, no one was injured and police was on the scene investigating its cause and helping traffic to move.

As of publication time traffic had been cleared and flowing again. The DMV is the government agency that issues drivers licenses to motorists, and encourages safe driving.

Mr Rymer, who has been at the helm of the Department since 2013, has brought many changes to the Department and he continues to get great positive reviews as to how efficient this Government Department is run.

Mr. Rymer has completely changed the approach and attitude of the staff at the DMV. Prior to his arrival the staff demonstrated all the negativity and self importance that is still on display at the labour and immigration departments. However, since his arrival, it is a pleasure to do business with the DMV. From the moment you walk into the door, there is a smiling face wanting to help you deal with whatever business you need to do.
It must soon be time to move Mr. Rymer to labour or immigration - at the moment those two departments are seriously restricting the operation of business in the BVI - belongers and expats both complain about the inefficient and rude staff in those departments whose sole purpose seems to be to find ways to deny you whatever you need - they desperately need the Rymer magic.

This is 100% true. I was at DMV on several occasions and the professionalism is unlike most departments. Am happy others saw that too. We must commend good when we see it. Not like Immigration especially where they make it seem like you begging for something and always barking....YUH HAVE TO COME BACK TOMORROW!!!When it's high day!

          You are exactly right

I was told that a document had to be sealed with the corporate seal and that I should finback to the office, get it sealed and come back tomorrow. When I took the seal out of my bag, the officer got very cross saying that I was not allowed to seal the document in the immigration office and that I must leave immediately and come back tomorrow.

I guess those disagreeing with you work at labour and immigration - having closed the office for new business at 12 noon by removing the ticket machine, they have told everybody with a ticket that they have to come back tomorrow (because everybody always has to come back tomorrow) and can now settle down to some serious internet surfing till it is time to go home at 4:30.

if there was a public contest for the best govt department DMV would have to win - i wish they would forget about that ting thing - or ease up or something. The tint thing is not rational. But other than that the department runs like a well-oiled machine. Kye and the entire team are doing a great job.

Just slow down because these demolition courses we call roads are very dangerous to manovor: my goodness make these contractors return our piyblic highways to a safe driving condition right after the dip up process stops: come to me, some contracts wants to put most the contract money in their personal account and then use a few pennies to execute the project because after most of these the project road surface is no longer smooth

I have been talking about the DMV for about 2 years now and the fact that their game is 100 except that they made me remove my legal tin besides that they were professional, and in the last few times I have had the pleasure of doing business with them it was literally less than 5 minutes and I was out.

When I tell them how please I am with them they say "put it on Face Book" but I don't think they have a FB page

Put it on BVI Community Board is what I believe they meant. Let all those sit up and take a look at how one man can change the entire department by how he conducts himself and treats his staff. Awesome work Kye!! Hope you are okay and keep up the good work. Yeah I also support the move to Immigration or Labour department, to clean up these areas.
