ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – From 4:00 AM this morning August 7, 2017, already covered in paint and powder, hundreds of revelers hit the road behind their favourite bands from Port Purcell, going west, into the capital Road Town.
The bands and trucks included Vibe, OMG, Showtime, Tribe and IPM.
Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL) also participated in the Jouvert and his name could have been seen on a truck.
The street was lined with onlookers and revelers as the bands belted out their tunes that kept the crowd in motion from start to finish at the Central Administrative Complex after 8 AM.
It was a relief to many that this year’s Road Town Jouvert ended without an incident with heavy Police presence. The members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) were visible yet they exhibited professionalism and were very interactive with the public. The Police can be applauded as well for the smooth flow of traffic during Jouvert.
Based on what was seen at Road Town Jouvert, all eyes are now set for a similar and even bigger Jouvert in East End on August 9, 2017 as the festival celebrations move to the eastern side of the island.
