Immigration Dept & DMV on VG broken into

Police on Virgin Gorda are investigating reports of a break-in at Immigration Department and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on Virgin Gorda last night, September 6, 2020. Photo: VINO/File
VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Two Government offices, the Immigration Department and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), were allegedly broken into last night, September 6, 2020, according to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online.

It is unclear to our newsroom at this time what was taken.

Minister responsible for Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) confirmed the incident of the break in at Immigration Department.

Government has also since indicated that the office will eb closed today, September 7, 2020.

Meanwhile, Police Information Officer, Ms Akia L. Thomas confirmed the break-in at DMV.

“I can confirm a report received, at approximately 6:50am, of a burglary at DMV in Virgin Gorda. Details surrounding the incident are unclear; however, the investigation is ongoing,” Ms Thomas stated.

    In between taking selfies with each other in paradise they might spare a second or two to attend to such security matters.....

    In addition governor office may attend to it in between pub quizzes, drinking alcohol and self promotion of books they right on our dime....

    Sooner government investigate them all the better...
