ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Carvin Malone said that his company CBE Engineering Associates Limited's services were terminated by the National Democratic Party (NDP) government as they were in the midst of executing a sewage contract sometime after the change of government in 2011.

He was at the time responding to a caller into the VIP’s radio show ‘Let’s Talk’ aired last night December 10, 2014 on ZBVI 780 AM.

"I would like to ask Carvin this question. Carvin with regards to this sewage issue I know you had a contract. I would like to ask you what happened to the contract?" the caller asked.

In response to the caller's query, Malone said that in 2010 there was a contract that was awarded to do the engineering and project management on the works necessary for a plant in the east and a plant in the Road Town central area.

"It was broken up into segments and the first five segments of the 20 were contracted. Coming into office in 2011 the monies necessary to do the works... [the NDP] spent no monies on the construction again and then our contract for the first five segments had come to a particular end," he said.

"The Minister [for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4)] in spite of Cabinet deciding in 2010 that we would be awarded 20 segments of work to finish, what he decided was that all he required was engineering. So I was fired… and now there is a deep battle going on because all the work that was necessary to complete this work in the east and in Road Town is far from completed,” he said.

Noting that the story is “a long one” which he would be willing to tell to anyone at a later time, Malone had expressed reservation in addressing the question on the live show since it had nothing to do with the VIP.

Your born here status only count when you are a VIP supporters. Once you with NDP you stain no matter where you from. We already understand the stupid logic, find something else because nobody buying that played out bs.

Boo hoo hoooo.... When he was hired by VIP did he announce that as well? When VIP hire their own cronies it's empowerment and locals doing good things. When NDP does the same it's called cronyism and corruption. You gotta love the hypocrisy.

As a Territory no matter what party we support this is not a good thing to be doing politically. When it is anything against the BVI investment club we pity them because of the heavy government involvement in that group but any other local that the NDP hates we can always try to justify this type of behavior. This has to stop.

So what was the reward, financial or otherwise to have the caller pose the question?
Did he have to rehearse or audition for the part of a contrived Jack donkey supporter?

It is all in the game of politics or politricksters and as such depends on the government of the day. This is not anything new. These things happen especially if you are involved deeply with a named political party and as such VIP and NDP in power and you may be considered as a spy or traitor. That is why some are vocal while others just work with their mouths shut so it is all in the game so just play your cards right and you will be just fine or fired

The man was paid to assist not build anything. We don't need his assistance any more the work is been done with the help of trained engineers, PWD and Water & Sewage. Do you think Raga and dem in man holes everyday for nothing?

If I was Malone I would have taken the high road with the question and moved on to more important topics for the people. If people wanted to pursue it he could have answered privately and with more finesse.
This way he sounds like sour grapes. Not good in a leader capacity. This is all very worrisome.

The man was fired 18 months ago -- This is the 1st time you hearing it because he kept it to himself and the 6 other BVIslanders who lost their jobs when he was fired. The NDP messenger asked the question and he answered. Finesse!! I am one who was fired --- I was waiting till he start.

I am thinking about the election trail and how this sounds to the public. So far the VIP hasn't reassured me that they are professional enough not to whine and can represent us overseas. the perception is bigger than being fired. If he wants to take on jobs, then take on employment, training, supporting small businesses, even cronyism. If he knew that it was an NDP messenger, he should have known that it could be a set-up. In any case, I think it could be handled differently without losing the confidence of the people.

Another site said the government stopped the project because of engineering issues such as soil caving in and compromising nearby buildings. If that is true then CBE definitely needed to be fired since it was their job to solve those kind of issues.
