I rather a Premier Fraser or Fahie over another day of NDP- Julian Willock

- said both candidates are good men but publicly pledges his support of Hon Julian Fraser RA for the VIP Chairmanship
According to former Permanent Secretary and businessman Julian Willock (centre) he would prefer either Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3), right, or Hon Andrew A. Fahie, left, as Premier of the Virgin Islands rather than another day of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in power. Photo: VINO/File

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Delegate and former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mr Julian Willock said while both men vying for the Chairmanship of the VIP in the Wednesday November 30, 2016 internal elections are good men, he is throwing his support behind veteran politician and incumbent Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3).

Mr Willock, the owner of political consultancy and marketing firm Advance Marketing and Professional Services, was speaking on the Morning Ride Show with Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart on ZROD 103.7 FM today, Tuesday November 29, 2016.

“I will be voting for the Honourable Julian Fraser and while I will be voting for the Honourable Fraser, the two candidates that are running are Honourable Andrew A. Fahie and Fraser, they are both good men, both of them are capable of being the Chairman of the VIP,” he said.

Family feud in VIP lead up to the election?

Meantime, Mr Willock described as “unfortunate” the ongoing family feud in the VIP, saying it can only result in driving a further wedge in the party for those who love the VIP and the territory.

“Every time I wake up I see something about an accusation of this an accusation of that, but the VIP is 45 years old and I am confident that they will survive this family feud and in the end what happens on Wednesday I hope will be to the satisfaction of the majority of its delegates and its supporters,” he noted.

VIP member and former Second District Candidate Rajah A. Smith told the media on November 28, 2016 that the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) internal elections process is being rigged in that Delegates were being demoted to Alternate Delegates, making them ineligible to vote.

Mr Smith was of the opinion that those party members being affected were persons who support Opposition Leader and party Chairman Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3).

VIP President Mr Carvin Malone has since refuted those allegations, saying “There are no known or proven basis for allegations of the process being rigged.”

Not another day of the NDP

And with the obvious internal struggles affecting the VIP, Mr Willock is optimistic that the “family feud” will be resolved and the work of the party to rid the territory of the National Democratic Party (NDP) will continue.

“And I will tell you this from the bottom of my heart I will prefer any day, a Premier Fraser or a Fahie over the other four years or another day of the NDP and that should be the vision of all VIP members.…and I think any of the two can do a better job than what is going on now and the issues that is going on in this country and the hopelessness that is going on in this country. But I hope that we will get over the family feud.”

Mr Willock also noted that if there is legitimate evidence that something went wrong with the delegates' list then this needs to be addressed.

Karl for Fahie; Julian for Fraser. All we need know is for Hurbert to come in as Referee. I will pay top dollar for a ringside seat to see who really do have the longest reach, pounds for pounds. Popcorn anyone.

I agree with Willock about Fahie or Frazer over NDP for another term, but they are surely making it hard for some of us, the voting public. This inside public party confusion is not looking good, at all, at all. Making the party appears very weak- in attracting possible strong new candidates- in order to build and develop a truly unified high-performing team.

Frazer maybe a popular choice but Fahie is a winning choice...It's all about winning.. I personally don't like none of the two but if that's the only two we have to chose from Then Fahie is an Election winner. Also Fahie seat is much surer than Frazer's seat. Don't blow it with likes and dislikes. Focus on winning.

the only way the Virgin Islands Political Party ever win another election in this territory is because the voting public have no other choice when to they reach the polls on election day come 2019(I will rather vote for 15 primary school children before I cast any vote for the current VIP)...the territory is in need of another viable political party(a group that understands development, cares about the people of this territory and willing to pave the way for our grandchildren

The VIP is lost more than-ever from what I am seeing, heard etc. It seems that the present Chairman wasn't treated right by the President and the executive body of the VIP by distancing them-self when the President should be the one to have and make piece in the party but like he went to one side. The President of the party should keep the house in order but in a number of cases that never happen. But with delegates been thrown off and new walkin persons added to the list shows a nasty matter to win the chairmanship and the rest of the executive body of the party is a darn mess. I know I am from the 1st district and it will take by all means for the rep. to get the power in another smart why but people are already up to the tricky nasty ways from the last move regarding the leader of the opposition. That tells people and myself he;s really seeking power, what are shame for I had respect for the individual but my kids and grand kids are not seeing him as a good and kind hearted person for he doesn't practice what he preaches. Hogwash!!! A stern figther Julian is and can be if he's ever to be elected as leader if given the chance.. Andrew, the NDP is going to chew you up harder that you never thought of but if your elected I will give you the respect as leader but can't see you becoming the leader of this country we call home.. Everyone has clothes but I close of here..

The VIP is outright doomed the whole team needs over hauling if Frazer is elected as chairman thats an automatic next 4yrs for Ndp an if Fahie is been elected that would just bring more shambles to the party and the members as they would never be settled....
