ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has revealed that since becoming Premier of the Virgin Islands (VI) there have been three major threats of assassination to his life and that the matter is now classified a national security issue.

CoP Matthews briefed – Hon Fahie

The Premier dropped the bombshell news when the Second Sitting of the First Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) commenced today Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the Assembly's Chambers in Road Town, where he noted that Commissioner of Police, Michael B. Matthews of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is already on the case.

“Since becoming premier it is now documented through authorities that I have received three major threats of assassination. And I want to tell these three entities here today, that you aren’t going frighten me from doing the business of the people,” the Premier told the House.

According to Hon Fahie, “We have sat down with the Commissioner of Police, we have sat down with private security… and we have made sure that the security that is needed, that will happen as the Premier of this Territory,” he implored.

“I don’t like to know that Taxpayers have to go through that. As a matter of fact Mr Speaker, I bring it up because I noticed that before I got to make a speech, there are those making fun of it. But I don’t take nobody making fun of my life,” he said.

Prophecies

The Premier noted that even before being elected, there were prophecies from religious leaders that he would lead the territory and that came to pass. He said the death threats to his life have also been prophesied and he was not going to take the threats lightly.

“I had to re-arrange how my life has been going and it has not been a nice time… One time I even paused and say, is this even worth it?” the Premier said.

“I use to be around this place free, free as a bird representing the people of the First [District] in this House doing what I got to do. Now because of some greedy people, that's who they are, because we have a tip-off what it’s about... some greedy people, want to see if they can assassinate the Premier,” Hon Fahie said in noting that the Police already have leads that may point to corrupt officials.

The Premier further said that given the situation, personal security was necessary, hence the reason for his bodyguards.

“I will live doing the will of God and I will die doing the will of God and yes we have the security and when the threat came to me I didn’t take it on Mr Speaker, I said nonsense.”

Now I realize - this is Disney world with wizards, prophets and goblins. I cannot believe this premier believes in Harry Potter and the seven dwarfs let alone false prophets..

I just want to know who is threatening you. You have lived and served in the BVI for years and I have never heard wind of such threats, now couple weeks as Premiere, your life is threatened with assassination? Guess climbing the ranks, has consequences, but just seems instantaneous to me.

Now many be a good time Hon. Premier to remember "the great god of the universe" you always reference. Haven't heard you talk about him since about your 3rd week in office. You started this premiership with all kinda prayers, you even prayed with the hindu's, so just place your assassinators in the hands of God, and make sure you place yourself there as well. Don't forget your humble beginnings... It's like you forgetting all that, and putting your trust in all this security detail. Sorry, but they can't "save you". Just ask J.F.K

Fahie is either suffering paranoid delusions or he has really gotten threats. While both cases may or may not be true, the fact that he made a police report and that these things have happened here before suggest there is some merit tot his. Also with all the years of slander by the ndp side and all the nastiness said and done throughout the campaign this is feasible. Wasn't Smith also threatened at some point and attacked or home invaded? With all the $$$ the ndp gave to certain ppl unadvertised there is cause for reasonable speculation that fahie's life was indeed threatened over it. Let's not act like they are all associated with saints we know who is capable of what around here. Fahie was shot in development bank some yrs back too sooo....

Deep down in the pit of your gut you hope that this is a sick joke. Nonetheless, if true, it is a troubling moment in Nature’s Little Secret. Assuming that this is true, the VI moved quickly from a little sleepy hollow and one of the safest place on earth to this barbarism. True, the good, the bad and ugly come with growth and development but this is beyond the pale. This mind set will set the country back economically, socially......etc for decades. External investment is the lifeblood of the BVI serviced-based economy. Investment is a function of rule of law, safety.......etc. The BVI cannot let a few bad apples spoil the whole barrel. The BVI is representative democracy and a majority of voters voted their choice on Election Day for whom they wanted to represent them. Though we may not like the outcome, we must respect the choice of a majority of fellow voters. This is not about PU or PVIM or NDP or VIP but about the BVI. The VIP was duly elected and it should be allowed to govern; the ballot box is the tool used to settle political issues, not criminal behaviour. The BVI must come together regardless of political philosophy and arrest this raging cancer. The survival of the territory depends on it.

So this isn’t the job for the ranking Royal Virgin Islands Police Officers? Oh, just say you don’t trust our police or having one of them around you. Which bodyguard can stop a man, what weapon is he using... clear the air on eliminating the treat any means necessary? This ain’t no Venezuela for that man to be on his high anarchy.

People who will hurt you won't threatened you... Let not your heart be troubled. Keep your eyes and Ears opened.. Especially for the people closest to you. That's where your danger is. Those close to you that know your every move... Make sure you include a female officer in your security team...
