ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) Honourable J. Alvin Christopher (R2) said that he has always declared his interests yearly as is required by law and that he ensures that this is done, even if he is a little late.

He was at the time responding to a caller to the talk show ‘PEP Radio’ heard on Monday evening January 26, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM.

According to the caller, many politicians seem to have conflicts of interest when they get into office. “What is your feeling on that?” the caller asked the panel, noting that many persons seemed in the past not to embrace the idea of declaring their interests.

“I personally have declared my interests. The law [states] we must do it yearly,” said Hon Christopher in response to the caller’s concern.

“Maybe at times I am a little late and I would admit to that. But I have always from the beginning declared my personal interests and when it was necessary to seek the approval of the House of Assembly for any matter that I have a business interest in I have always done it,” he said.

“I really cannot speak for any other member of the House of Assembly,” he said while responding to the caller.
