BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola VI – Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has indicated that the VI might not have any more need for further curfews, when the current Curfew Order expires.

Hon Malone was speaking during the April 6, 2021, edition of VIP Let’s talk radio show on ZBVI 780 AM.

“I don't think we will have need for any more curfews, but we must keep pushing in terms of what it is going to be best to keep us safe, going to accentuate the positive,” he said.

The Virgin Islands' latest 3-hour curfew expires today, April 8, 2021, according to a Curfew Order gazetted on March 26, 2021.

Under the terms, the curfew ran from 2:01 am and 4:59 am daily where there was also a restriction on persons who operate a vessel to be permitted to operate the vessel within territorial waters between the hours of 5:01 am to 10:00 pm daily, and within navigational limits to define the northern and southern boundaries of the VI's Exclusive Zone.

New push to get industries going

Hon Malone said the Government will be looking at getting yachts back into VI waters with the proper protocols.

Hon Malone said the new push to get industries going will still include following COVID-19 suppression guidelines like wearing masks and social distancing to ‘follow the science’ of reducing the spread of the virus,

“We're going to accentuate the positive, we're going to make sure that we can get our hotels back in order,” he said.

How about opening up the BVI to vaccinated persons. No quarantine, no BVI test only 1 covid test before you come in, if that is even necessary.

No chance of eliminating the entry covid test. The Government makes money on those test. Tell me the last time the government reduce or eliminated a fee, tax or anything else? These tests cost about $30 and the government charges $70. Will never go away.

Yes, open back up the dark hours economy! It does keep us in Gucci n Gold. Possible some STD's and broken homes. Maybe some money laundering too...
FFS! Open this island so the rest of our economy can survive. Not just the "domestic workers " and their dirty sponsors

Lifting the curfew is a bad idea. Everyone knows most covid transmissions occur between the hours of 2am and 5am.
It would be comical if this wasn't the actual government making this bold statement.
Your leaders at work. Would hate to have this government in charge of my livelihood. Good luck BVI residents, these are the people in charge..
